Publish Your Book in a Year Without Overthinking It

How long have you been trying to publish your book?

A year? Three years? More than a decade?

Every year, you think “this is the year,” work on editing your manuscript for a bit, and then get stuck. You start overthinking the scenes, the story, the characters, the conflicts. Wondering if you’re even cut out for writing and if this whole publishing dream was too lofty a goal.

Other people can publish... but not you.

You look around at the other self-published authors in your writing groups, the 60-Day Challenge, and feel like you must be missing something to get there.

Life Coaching For Authors

Colleen Mitchell, Certified Professional Coach

While you’re staring blankly at the screen, wondering how you’re going to do a rewrite without pulling your hair out...the other demands of life creep in.

Your full-time job.

Family obligations.

Running the household.

Other projects and goals that seem more important.

Those promises you made to do things for other people...

Soon, your book, your creative baby, gets shoved into the closet. Even if it’s been your dream since childhood to be a published author with an actual book in your hands. You let the other things take over because ultimately, it’s easier.

It’s a jarring image.

But you know what?

I did that for about 13 years.

Here's the Truth....

What Gets in the Way?

If You Could Do It Alone, You Would Have Already.

This Program is for You If...

So many things get in the way of publishing. If you had to write a list of all the reasons why you haven’t published yet, all the obstacles you’d need to overcome, you’d have the step-by-step list of what you need to do to make it to launch day.

But just having the list doesn’t help if you don’t know how to deal with all the mental drama of following through on it.

There are two big reasons most “aspiring authors” don’t get their books onto the digital shelves of Amazon or even into the real shelves of brick-and-mortar bookstores.

  1. You don’t believe it’s possible.

  2. You don’t know how to do it on your own.

The litany of “I don’t know how” that fills our heads stops us all in our tracks because it feels true.

If you’ve never published before, of course, you’re going to have a hard time believing it’s possible to do that.

We like to say that we just need to try things on our own for a while, but down the line, we recognize that having someone help us makes the process faster, and costs less in the long run. That’s why we hire developmental editors, copyeditors, cover designers, and interior formatters.

Getting it done right is worth more than what it would cost you in book sales to just slap something together yourself and say you’re a published author. You want it to be perfect. But the process of implementing everything those professionals offer can feel like pulling stitches...unless you have the right kind of mental support to coach you through the drama.

That’s where I come in.

I can guide you through the mental hang-ups of taking your book from the first draft to published copy...and we can do it in just one year. It’s so helpful for our negative brains to see actual evidence that someone else can do it...which means you can do it too.

My novel, Mark of Stars, went from the first rewrite to published in just twelve months. I used all the tools of mindset on myself to make it through the mental struggles involved with accepting feedback, killing my darlings, blowing up my messy middle (twice), and going back-and-forth with Angelique and LeighAnn to get the final proofs to perfection.

I’ll use all those tools with you, but the result you really care about is getting your book launched by this time next year.

Working one-on-one with a coach can feel daunting if you don’t know what to expect.
